Broad frequency-specific auditory spatial fields are prompted by left-hand and right-hand edges, separated, at times, by interaural time differences as large as ~0.8 ms, especially between about 300 and 400 Hz. A slight movement from left to right may be heard during the 6 second clip.

• • An IPD-evoked activity limit of 20 was used to obtain representations in this example (i.e., 10 ∙ 2 IPDs / cycle = 20).
• • The same limit was used to obtain envelope amplitude weights and envelope derivative weights, which were then summed.
• • Full interaural coordination was used (index = 1) such that prior activities in both hemispheres were reduced whenever the activity limit was exceeded in either hemisphere, although nearly identical results are obtained with no coordination (index = 0) since interaural phase differences are broadly distributed over the duration of the clip.
• • Modeled neurons are maximally responsive to interaural phase differences (IPD) between -0.03 and 0.37 cycles in the left hemisphere and between 0.03 and -0.37 cycles in the right hemisphere, corresponding to contralateral half-maxima at IPDs between -0.2 and 0.2 both hemispheres.
