Neural representations (ITD alone, activities due to ILD and envelope cues excluded) of ocean waves rolling on a beach recorded using the Neumann KU100 dummy head. Saint Augustine Beach, Florida, December 28, 2016.

Edge model  -  Neural activities in the left hemisphere encode the right-hand ‘edges’ of frequency-specific auditory fields. Activities in the right hemisphere encode the left-hand edges of the same fields.

Broad frequency-specific auditory spatial fields are prompted by left-hand and right-hand edges, separated, at times, by interaural time differences as large as ~0.8 ms, especially between about 300 and 400 Hz. A slight movement from left to right may be heard during the 6 second clip.
